Thank you!
Without making this too long as it is very emotional for me, we would like to thank everyone for a successful fundrasier! We would like to thank the Penninsular club for hosting this fundraiser and all their help putting it together. Thank you to our brother-in-law Tobby for all his work on getting Jacob’s prayer website together. Thank you to all of you who donated items for the silent auction. In the end, we had 43 items to auction! WOW! Thank you to all who donated to Jacob’s prayer even though you were unable to attend! Thank you to those who came to support us at the fundraiser and for the generous bids on the auction items! Thank you to all of you who helped spread awareness by passing Jacob’s website along or talked to others about Batten Disease! Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Jacob and our family. A special thanks to Floriza Genautis for starting this fundraiser and all the hard work that went into making this such a huge success!
We are so happy that Jacob was having a good day and had enough energy to make it through the fundraiser! He did fall asleep at the end of the night on the couch! So precious! He certainly did find the FUN in FUNdraiser! All he could talk about was his party! This was a perfect example of how much he thrives on attention! He can put on quite a show so long as he has the right audience! It was great to see him make everyone laugh! Seeing his smile was the best!
I must admit, having this fundraiser was very difficult for me. Those of you that know me, know that I have a hard time asking for help. It was hard to accept Jacob’s Make-A-Wish trip because of the reason he was accepted for the wish. Same thing here. It’s hard knowing what this fundraiser was for. I sat there last night and looked at the bright smile on Jacob’s face and at the same time, I know that all too soon, that bright smile will fade away. It was hard knowing that he was walking around the room making people laugh when he is going to lose his ability to walk and talk. He could see people’s reaction to him and yet, he is going to lose his sight. There is nothing we can do to stop any of that from happening. Knowing that so many people care and want to help makes me at a loss to find the right words to express how much that means to us. We are truly Blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives. It is a gift knowing how much Jacob has affected other people’s lives. Even the lives of so many whom we have never met. God is wonderful! We have our faith that God is still in control and that He is leading us on this journey. Jacob is such an amazing little boy and he has taught us so much. He continues to teach us every day. Jacob knows how to make good things happen even at the darkest of times. It is an honor to be his Mother. He is a joy, a gift, a miracle, a reason to respect life and a reason to love no matter what. Jacob has no idea why any of this is happening and we are greatful for that. Thanks to all of you for helping make his quality of life a better one. We are deeply touched by this experience.
God Bless,
Rob and Chris
